Midwest Region
Welcome!
ICLEI is pleased to serve its Midwest membership in a direct manner through our Midwest Regional Capacity Center in Chicago, Illinois. Like our overall membership, ICLEI’s Midwestern membership has demonstrated an extremely high rate of growth over the past year, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to build capacity within local governments in America’s heartland.
Although cities throughout the Midwest have been advancing goals towards environmental sustainability and climate protection for years, the region is showing new leadership in this arena through the Midwest Governors Association’s Energy Security and Climate Stewardship Platform and Greenhouse Gas Accord. This commitment helps to further set the stage for cities and counties to make strides towards environmental sustainability.
The Midwest office offers customized support to local governments in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota.
The opening of the Midwest Regional Capacity Center was made possible through generous support from the Argosy Foundation.
Thank you also to Chicago, Illinois, Alderman Maryann Smith for representing the region on the ICLEI USA Board of Directors
