Local Climate Action Celebrated on Earth Day!

Page Title Image - FundersLocal government leaders play a crucial role in galvanizing support – and action – to plan for a sustainable future.  On April 22, 2008 communities across the nation and the world set aside a day to celebrate the accomplishments and progress they have made in cutting pollution and creating healthier, cleaner environments as part of Earth Day.

Earth Day 2008

Earth Day 2008 was the biggest yet!  We asked people to call their government and urge significant and equitable action on climate change as millions of people around the world were galvanized during hundreds of events around the globe.

Set The Example: Share your successes and encourage involvement!

Earth Day is an excellent opportunity to let your community know about the tremendous work happening locally to address global warming. Effectively communicating the goals you have set and the role that every citizen has to play in reaching those goals will help elicit a community-wide response and determine your ultimate achievements.

ICLEI designed an Earth Day flier, tip sheet and template fact sheet specifically for local governments to help spread the word.  Although Earth Day 2008 has passed, please feel free to download and use them as templates for climate action events in your community.
