ICLEI Offers Travel Scholarships to International Code Council Hearing
ICLEI is offering travel scholarships to local governments interested in attending the ICC Hearing to support the 30% Solution. Submit your scholarship application (see below) as soon as possible!
ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability is partnering with the Energy Efficient Codes Coalition to support the 30% Solution—a proposed update to the International Energy Conservation Code that will make the nearly one million new homes built in the United States each year 30% more energy efficient than those built to the existing energy standard. With electricity and natural gas consumption in residential homes being a major contributor to the greenhouse gas emissions of most communities, the 30% Solution will ensure that new homes become part of the climate change solution. The strategies employed in the 30% Solution—including insulation, thermal envelope, and fenestration improvements—will make homes more affordable and more comfortable, and can become the building blocks for initiatives that look to improve the energy performance of existing homes.
Please visit the ICLEI website’s 30% Solution page to learn more about how this important effort supports local climate protection work.
The final vote on the 30% Solution will take place at the International Code Council (ICC) final action hearing in Minneapolis, Minnesota September 21-22. Through support from the Energy Foundation, ICLEI is thrilled to offer travel scholarships to those local government representatives that are interested in representing their jurisdiction at the ICC Hearing.
Please complete and return this brief application if you would like to be considered for a travel scholarship. Travel scholarships will be awarded based on need and other criteria, and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Applications may be returned via email to Mark Ruzzin at mark.ruzzin@iclei.org, or via fax to (617) 850-9047.

PLEASE NOTE: Your community must be a member of the International Code Council in order to be eligible to vote. (If you are not a member, you have until September 5 to join.) PLEASE ALSO NOTE that representatives from ICC jurisdiction members must be involved with the development and implementation of building and energy codes in order to be eligible to vote.
