Webcast: Role of Energy Efficiency & Renewables on High Electric Demand Days

U.S. DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy will discuss the links between peak electric demand, high levels of ozone nonattainment, and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as solutions in terms of energy efficiency and renewable energy. Register by June 30th.

ROLE OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND RENEWABLE ENERGY ON HIGH ELECTRIC DEMAND DAYS IN IMPROVING AIR QUALITY AND ADDRESSING GREENHOUSE GAS REDUCTION GOALS

  • High Electric Demand Days

     o  Learn why the highest overall nitrogen oxide emissions from electric generators occur during peak electric demand days in many regions – contributing to nonattainment of the national ozone standard

     o   Find out how energy efficiency and renewable energy (EERE) can help address this challenge.

  • Electricity Regulatory Reforms to Encourage Energy Efficiency

     o   Learn about major new developments and trends that can contribute to reduced emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants;

     o   Hear why coordination among regional transmission organizations and state energy and air officials is important in achieving optimal results.

  • EPA’s New National Ambient Air Quality Standard for Ozone

     o   Learn about the new ozone standard and the potential role of EERE in meeting the standard.

Sponsored by:  The Clean Energy/Air Quality Integration Initiative of the U.S. DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

Registration:   No later than June 30, 2008.
